The Toy Jungle is the creation of Gary and Misti Mussatto who came up with the idea in 1999, two years after opening the Gator Pit - the first kids indoor playcentre on the North Shore of Vancouver. The Mussatto's met in the entertainment industry while working on board cruise ships (he a drummer from Vancouver, she a Broadway show dancer from California) and discovered their shared passion for retail and unique, quality toys while raising their two daughters. Believing that every child's nature is unique and that every child learns a bit differently than the next, the Toy Jungle selects their toys with kids' "personality" in mind, and not based on television advertising. "Finding 'the right toy for the right child' is paramount" says Misti, who's been procuring toys made with such great quality that parents continue to step on them even today! (Ouch!) Our uniquely branded stores are themed to make your shopping experience with us a fun and memorable one. Our Toy Jungle store actually looks like a jungle - from the giant tree at the entrance to the store, to the giant airplane crashed into a mountain of plush in the rear.
The Toybox on the other hand is the oldest toy store in Western Canada and the second oldest overall! Located on West Broadway in trendy Kitsilano, it's undergone a huge transformation and is now themed like a toy factory, complete with conveyor belts, painting and wrapping machines - even a secret tunnel to a bank vault! Kids love to let their imaginations run wild in our stores so come and visit us if you're travelling to Vancouver and experience why we've been nominated the "Best Toy Store" year after year.
