Toy Jungle
If the front of the store doesn't give you an indication that this is a fun toy store, then how about dropping names - like Tom Cruise, for instance! Well... he hasn't been in yet - but when he does he'll say: "Man, this is a cool toy store!" Trust me!
To kids, the Toy Jungle came to life in October 2003 when a mischievous toucan named "Kooky Tooky" crashed his airplane into a mountain of plush animals on his maiden flight. Named after Gary's father, Tooky (who Gary says is a great guy, always the life of a party!) set out in search of a place for his friends to play and have fun. Spotting something down below, he cruised in for a closer look. Not seeing a little something in front of him.. called A MOUNTAIN!.. he crashed and now sends jungle packages to all his friends everywhere. To kids he's Kooky Tooky... to parents, he's just another bad driver... a toucan with a learner's license!
Nothing about the Toy Jungle is typical to toy stores in any way. The store looks fun just walking towards it. The storefront, designed by artist/themer Garry Sawatzky, is a giant concrete tree that draws the attention of kids and adults and invites them in. In the store you experience trees of toys, 4 play areas for kids, constellations of stars flashing on the ceiling, and a rock mountain of plush animals - now the new home to Kooky Tooky and his airplane! There's a large candy section, walls of Playmobil, Lego and other great toys, an electric train that kids start and stop, puzzles, games, crafts and tons more!
Owners Gary and Misti Mussatto were voted "Canadian Retailers of the Year" by Toys & Games magazine-the first time ever (15 years) the award had gone east of Toronto! Toy Jungle has been nominated 3 years in a row by the "North Shore News" as favorite toy store and in 2006 was voted "Favorite Toy Store" by the kids of the North Shore - Outlook newspaper.
To help you make the perfect selection, they offer a 'Top 10 List' for shoppers by age and price. They have a points system that gives you money to spend in the store as you buy and they'll wrap your gifts for free with Kooky Tooky's original 'Jungle Wrap'.
